MEET THE MAKER:
LITTLE REBEL COFFEE ROASTERY
“Roasting is such a simple thing,” says Pete Roberts, who opened Little Rebel in 2012. “The beauty is in the nuance.”
Pete, his wife Trish, and their experienced team of locals own the responsibility to transparently showcase the hard work invested in raw, green coffee before it arrives in Dromana. “It’s like calligraphy or the art of a good weld,” Pete says.
Little Rebel’s Dutch Giesen roaster acts as a reminder of the maker’s fastidious approach to sourcing, quality control, and respect for all people involved in the craft of growing, picking, roasting and serving coffee – they work closely with farmers in Colombia, Brazil and Honduras.
With glimpses of the great matte black metallic roaster and the deep waft of bittersweet beans lingering, Little Rebel’s tasting room presents a gentle flavour profile of industry, elegance and innovation, with a hint of rebelliousness – reflecting the ethically-farmed beans themselves.
